Additional Resources

Not finding what you’re looking for in the repository? You could try looking on any of the following websites, many of which we used when building out the original body of items in the repository.

  • Community Solutions
    • A good place to go for info on Built for Zero. Also, good videos and short articles on basic concepts in homeless services and homelessness.
  • Corporation for Supportive Housing
    • Specific focus on permanent supportive housing. At the moment, their website is under construction, and they’ve removed a lot of the resources previously hosted on this site. However, there’s still the potential to find useful things here.

  • HUD Exchange
    • There are a lot of resources on here, and they can be difficult to search.
  • National Alliance to End Homelessness
    • Lots of basic information, including definitions, and many documents with a focus on advocacy. NAEH also publishes the widely used state of homelessness report every year.
  • National Low Income Housing Coalition
    • Resources focused on housing. They publish The Gap report and Out of Reach each year, both of which focus on inaccessibility of affordable housing.

  • Urban Institute
    • Good research on housing and homelessness responses. Lots of research on this website, so I recommend using their search tools to specify your search.

  • US Interagency Council on Homelessness
    • While this agency’s website is still active and can provide valuable resources, it’s unclear how much longer USICH will exist, as the current administration slated it for removal.

Location-specific collections

Healthcare focus

  • National Healthcare for the Homeless Council.
    • Focused on healthcare. Applies a healthcare lens to many “general” topics (such as outreach or rapid rehousing). Some of the resources can be difficult to interpret if you don’t have a medical/ public health background.

  • Homeless and Housing Resource Center – Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)
    • Variety of resources and trainings. Many have a focus on substance use & recovery.
